Assignment framework

Terms of service.

These terms provide a common framework. The quotation or mandate always defines the actual assignment, its limits, price and timing.

1. Provider and scope

Services are provided by Christopher Lacave, a French sole trader operating Chris Carchaser. Registration details appear in the legal notice.

Services may cover search definition, vehicle review, negotiation, sale preparation or support, and the coordination of formalities, transport or specialists. These terms apply unless written special terms have been accepted.

2. Enquiry, quotation and contract

A form submission, telephone conversation or transfer of vehicle information is not an order. Work begins after written acceptance of a quotation, mandate or equivalent document setting out the scope, deliverables, fees and any special terms.

Any material change to the requirement or scope must be agreed before additional work is undertaken.

3. Fees, expenses and payment

The amount, calculation method — fixed fee, percentage, success fee or combination —, applicable tax, payment schedule and trigger events are stated in the quotation or mandate. No success fee is due on a basis that has not been defined in writing.

Travel costs and third-party services are incurred only after the client has been informed or has agreed, except where an expressly agreed urgency applies. Work completed and authorised costs remain payable if the assignment stops.

4. Independent role

Unless the contract says otherwise, Chris Carchaser acts as an independent adviser, agent or coordinator and is neither the vehicle seller nor buyer. The sale agreement is made between the parties named in it.

Where Chris Carchaser sells a vehicle in its own name, a specific sale document sets out the applicable duties and warranties and prevails for that transaction.

5. Information, checks and decisions

Advice is based on the documents, statements, observations and checks available within the agreed scope. A seller’s statement is not presented as a verified fact. The limits of any review, inspection or report are explained to the client.

The client provides accurate and complete information, discloses constraints and remains responsible for the decision to buy, sell or commission work. No future performance, freedom from breakdown, value movement or negotiation outcome is guaranteed.

6. External specialists and timing

Workshops, experts, inspectors, transporters, photographers, public authorities and other specialists act under their own responsibility and terms. Chris Carchaser selects or coordinates them with due care but does not replace them.

Timings are estimates where delivery depends on a third party, authority, vehicle availability or documents supplied by the client.

7. Consumer cancellation right

A consumer who enters into a distance or off-premises service contract generally has fourteen calendar days to withdraw without giving a reason. The form below or any clear statement sent to the contact address may be used.

If the consumer expressly asks for work to begin during that period, a proportionate amount remains payable for work performed before withdrawal. The right is lost when the service is fully performed during the period after the consumer’s express prior agreement and acknowledgement.

8. Suspension and termination

Either party may ask to end the assignment under the quotation or mandate. The provider may suspend work for non-payment, missing essential information, an unlawful request, a conflict of interest or a serious unaccepted risk.

A statement of work, documents and costs is then provided. Provisions which by nature survive — payment, confidentiality, data and dispute resolution — remain effective.

9. Liability

Chris Carchaser performs the agreed assignment with reasonable care and under applicable law, within the accepted scope. Nothing limits mandatory consumer rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Consequences of concealed, inaccurate or late information, a decision taken against stated advice, or an external service are not attributable to Chris Carchaser unless caused by its own fault.

10. Personal data and confidentiality

Data needed to answer an enquiry and perform an assignment is handled as described on the Privacy page. Confidential dossier information is shared only with people required for performance, subject to legal duties.

11. Complaints and mediation

A complaint must first be sent to Chris Carchaser in writing, stating the facts and remedy sought. It will be answered within a reasonable time.

If no agreement is reached, an eligible consumer may refer the matter free of charge to the consumer mediator named in the quotation or mandate. The mediator’s details will be published here once an agreement has been signed; no unaffiliated body is represented as competent.

12. Governing law and languages

The contract is governed by French law without depriving consumers of mandatory protection in their country of residence where applicable. Statutory jurisdiction rules remain unaffected.

Translations are provided for convenience. The French version is the reference in the event of inconsistency, to the extent permitted by law.
